A lovely pattern George !
I think it would make a good Mayfly nymph pattern if tied on a longshank 12

I've often wondered about the origins of this pattern and it's simple effectiveness.A timeless classic and a nice tying to boot.

i know this as an american gold ribbed hares ear nymph.
represents lots of trout food, will catch any where.
a must have fly , i reckon.
