Default winged wet's ( first attempts )

Hi Folks.

This morning I thought it was about time I tried to tie some winged wet's
More try to tie the wing, as I have had some speckled hen feathers for quite some time now.

Here are three I feel are reasonable, But as always any coments are welcome.

How do you wing wets like that ? Pinch and loop I'm told.....

I end up rolling the wings which is fine for Invictas but not an option for butchers.

Im by no means prolific with winged flies but would sat that the 1st and 3rd looks a bit to broad, but the 2nd is very good.
I look forward to seeing more with a head hackle or beard or even a palmer.
Cheers
Kevin

Yes the pinch and loop method.
For your butchers you need to take a slip from a pair of watched feathers. I find that they split very east however and give them a light misting of an artist fixant which still leaves them flexiable.

yip number 2 is spot on ,,, and this is without a doubt one of the hardest steps of any pattern to master and something ive had the odd go at and had good and bad results .
i look forward to seeing some more winged wets as they are the first wets i ever used and brought me a few nice little fish from those first few outings.

Very nice, Mr edd. Try a few with the wings turned up the other way, i.e. with the longest feather fibres on top. The speckled hen feathers make a lovely Cinnamon and Gold.
