Tonight I thought I'd experiment with going small - for me that's 18 at present.

Had some nice CDC delivered mid week in White and Natural from Cookshill (short notice many thanks to them), tied the body via spiralling in a white feather and tying it off / snipping it and then did the standard F Fly wings with two small grey CDC feathers.

How small do you experienced fella's get down to on here, as hook size isn't always mentioned?

Hi Madjoni, same here, 18 is the smallest in the box - will need to buy some smaller hooks.

I think on our little local river a small fly will do well - if you are a little river trout, surely you don't want a whole Big Mac every bite?

Most of the naturals that I see floating about in the better weather are very small.

Second 'inverse' prototype's gone a bit pear shaped, time to call it a night!

Might need my eyes tested if I'm going to push this idea forwards?

Dave certainly does some great work

Dave, do you fancy doing a little tutoring for a few of us Sou' Westers?

I'd like to sit around a table and see how you manage that little feat of engineering/art?
