Suspender buzzers question

So I'm tying up some suspender buzzers using medium Veniard booby eyes. I've pretty much cut each eye in half and secured them to the hook. When they're cut in half, I'm left with a piece of foam about 13 mm long. My question is, "Is 13 mm of foam too long for suspender buzzers?" I'm concerned about the trout being spooked by the foam. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I use these patterns for rainbow fishing and dont find the foam spooks them too much.

You might want to trim the foam down to about 5mm, if it's too long the suspender buzzer may get pushed along, unnaturally, by the wind.

A few variants of suspenders which I have used for many years ,apart from the top one which is based on the same idea as Marks step by step.

I did the first one a couple of years ago,it did work, a pain in the b-tt to faf with the suspender ball, which means no cutting,

They also work tied on dry fly hooks.

Any hook would work I suppose,depending on how you want them to lie in the water,hook up or downwards.
