Default My Nymph Attempts

Hi guys. I haven't been tying too long (started just before Christmas) but can now do a half decent nymph (I think), some of these in picture tied on 18's but am stumped at tying on wings to small dries. I've watched Davie McPhail's and others videos but my attempts always end up with enormous heads. Any tips would be gratefully received

They are all spot on. All I can tell you as regards the heads is that nearly everybody has that problem at the start but with practice it will all work out for you. Plenty of trial and error. Keep up the good work

Nice nymphs mate. Have a look here for wings.

UKFlyDressing - Wings, selecting, preparing and tying in

UKFlyDressing - Step by step - Self split wing

Once you've gotten used to using one size of thread, scale down to the next smaller size. Take a good look at Gwent Angling Society for another source of top class videos. By the way, they're super flies for a newbie, well done.

Still have that problem mtself sometimes the secret as someone had already meantion is to use thinner thread and also trying not to entomb every material you tie in with thread wraps.
Still absolutly fantastic flies.

Thanks for the comments everyone and for those links. Had a go trying to copy the 'Self split wing' one this afternoon but ended up scrapping it after the CDC went wrong :-(
