To be completely honest: I tyed my 1st fly on Thursday night and felt confident enough to ask stupid questions, and wasn't even put of in the slightest when i got a slagging for putting a bead on the wrong way round or when i had more marabou stuck to the front of my jumper than i had on the fly.
I was able to do this as i previously new the majority of the people there, new that they would be supportive and that is probably the reason i went. I previously heard of the Fly Dressers Guild (FDG) only 2 weeks before, and again if i am totally honest, the name, on first appearance seems really formal and made me think that this was not for beginners.
I stand corrected: and on asking members from my fly fishing club, they confirm that it is a really good bunch of guys who go to Dreghorn on a Monday night, and that they are very helpful with beginners. If i didn't work late most Mondays, i would most certainly consider paying the membership and attending. Nothing at all personal and i am sure that there is nothing at all personal, why others in attendance on Thursday night haven't become members of the Dreghorn FDG.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
