Default tasty buzzers help please

Hi folks,
I recently saw some pictures here of some buzzers fashioned on a bare hook with just a blob of nail varnish, I think it may have been scratch's pattern but i really cant remember, superb i thought, any way, what i was wondering, has anyone else done this and if so, does it matter what kind of nail varnish you use.
Thanks in advance
Scotty

The buzzer you're referring to can be viewed in Scratch's signature link.

Linky.

Don't think it's nail varnish though, it's ink and varnish.

I presume you're on about this one Scotty....

I use Sally Hansen Hard as Nails, though I doubt if it would make an awful lot of difference to the finished atricle which brand you use to be honest. The cheaper brands may not turn out to be as durable, and may discolour quicker, but I wouldn't know... always used Sally.

If you're having a go, start with a tiny drop under the thorax area, then build it up over a day or two with 3 or 4 coats. It will be touch dry within minutes, but I leave it overnight... 10 to 12 hours minumum. If you apply further coats too quickly, then the middle never dries properly and will remain soft.

This ultra-realistic version has a very fine dubbed body & imitation of a parasite just behind the thorax.

Thanks for the compliment!
It has a 100% record of times used/fish caught so far.
I'm a bit concerned that the dressing may be too bulky.
What say you, Mr Scratch?
