It looks as if the detached body is tied on a separate hook shank which is then lashed to the other hook? This is a technique I've seen used in Mayfly Art Flies, but I always thought it wouldn't be buoyant enough as a fishing fly. Can you keep us updated how you get on with it?
My final question is the perpendicular eye on the hook, what is the theory behind it?

Hi Ben,
The hook is an a Partridge K10 Yorkshire Fly body hook. It's essentially a continuous length of wire from the point to where the abdomen ends which explains the looped eye and what looks like a seperate hook shank dressed and then attached. I tried it last night in a fly cube to see how it'd float and after I applied some gink to the abdomen it floated pretty well and gave a good profile from underneath, I'd say what helped is that the gauge of the wire used in the hook looks and feels pretty light.
I would like to know myself how it'll behave in a wave. Can't wait to give it a go.
Derek
Thanks everyone for the positive comments, much appreciated
