Default My "Go to" sea trout fly.

Hi all,

Following on from a couple of sea trout flies I put up last week, I thought I'd share my "go to" sea trout fly. This fly is never off my dropper and has caught hundreds of sea trout for me. If I had to fish for them with only one fly, this would be it. It's basic, but it produces results.

Very nice fly.But a bit too fancy for my style of Seatrouting.
1/2 '' alloy tube, with some black bucktail seems to work fine. No droppers.

Cracking fly there Stuart, and a nice photo. I wish I could tie crow wing that nicely, mine look like crep compared to that.

Here's what I like to use, I had a good crack at hairwings but there's something nice about a feathered wing, they don't wrap around the hook like hair does which is a confidence booster.

Hook Size 10 Partridge Wilson lightweight
Thread - Black Sheer
Tail - Golden pheasant dyed red
Rib - Silver wire
Body - Silver tinsel and red seals fur
Hackle -Black cock
Wing - Bronze mallard and JC

I call that one the Aberkicker, it has a few years to go before I've notched up a hundred with it though.

Thanks guys. It's funny, but it's so true, sea trout fishing is all about confidence I'm sure you'll agree, so there's probably is no such thing as a 'deadly' sea trout fly is there? The ones we have the most confidence in prove to be the successful ones.
