I've been messing with Steve Thornton's patterns recently. Some are challenging to tie, at least for the first few goes. Here's a poor rendition of his Burrowing Mayfly Nymph:
I didn't have any cream organza ribbon and so had to improvise with some ostrich herl. It didn't work too well.
Materials:
Hook: Tiemco 200R #12
Thread: Sheer, white
Underbody: Self adhesive lead
Tails: Emu fibres
Body: Translucent Nymph Skin
Gills: ostrich herl (should be cream organza ribbon)
Wing Buds: black goose Biots
Legs: Golden pheasant tail
Abdomen thread cover: pale yellow or cream Superfine
Colouring: Edding brown and Kuracolor 140 yellow (used to remove the brown down center of abdomen and thorax)
