Nice Buzz. How are you tying in the shell back? I am guessing as one of the first materials, tied down over the lead?

Now that is spot on, looks simple but probably deceptive with lots of special bits in it knowing your good self?

The hook is a Hanak H 300 BL (Size 12).
The thread is UTC 70 Fl White (The fancy bit?).
Under body is sticky lead sheet cut to about 1mm, three layers creating a fat bit in the middle tapering to nothing at each end.
Rib is thin copper wire.
The dubbing i haven't the foggiest idea.
Shell back is Siman something or other. Its shiny, stretchy and very very thin.

Nothing fancy STD, I thought all my flies are simple with a few ingredientsThis ain't mine anyway its a Dave Downie pattern

And Yes Dave the shell back is tied in first, albeit not over the lead, behind the lead thus maintaining the taper.

Ta for info, nothing fancy I know, you just popped up one a week or so back that had all sorts of stuff in it (the gettin jiggy one).

This one is something I think I can manage; anyway, the materials you're working with are bound to be better than the tatt I've accumulated in just a few months, I should bin all my starter kit and buy some propper materials

I'll have a go at this one, it's a better version of the one I'm currently using - so lead sheet and some decent shell back needs to be ordered tomorrow.
