thanks to all you guys who posted info to help me get started in rolling my own, one last question, I was advised to make sure I purchased a ceramic bobbin holder, are the ones I see for sale that are ceramic tipped ok? thanks again for previous and future advice.

As I mentioned on your last thread...whatever you do don't skimp on the cost of this essential item.

I have 3 or 4 so called ceramic tip bobbin holders aquired of Ebay for a song and I really wouldn't give them my worst enemy.

You should be looking to pay a minimum of around £7 (veniards) to ensure you don't end up with a pile of sh*t.

yes thanks for that sabsman, was going via ebay at £3 so will now take your advice and go to a shop.
