Default Wood pigeon

Clocked a good sized wood pigeon on my last shoot of the season today. It was probably my best shot of the season - a good 70+ yards out.

Anything worth keeping (other than the breasts which I intend to have for brunch tomorrow)? Feathers that is?

Niet!

Arkle has advised before that the feathers are generally not used because they disintegrate.

Good shot by the way.

Very if any few patterns ask for Wood Pidgeon feathers. I believe they are simply not up to much.

Hi Steve and LIam, enjoy eating your pigeons, I am not as fit as I used to be, so I sold my guns, I paid £6.68p for four small pigeons from a local game factory today, a wee bit pricey I would say, but I will enjoy them just the same.
Billy.

Yes. Needless to say I was a bit surprised - a real cracker of a shot. The 32/5s likely only just got there.

Anyway, back to fly tying. Sounds like the feathers aren't worth keeping.

I shot one last summer at 135 yards....

....mind you, that was with a 55 grain Sierra Blitzking out of my .243, there was a 5 foot circle of feathers and not much else
