Default Fly book

Hi, i,ve recently picked up a fly tying book or rather a book of flies with instructions of how to tie all the flies.
Its by a guy called Taff Price, anybody heard of him,
The book is called Fly Patterns - An international guide.
It was collecting dust in a charity shop - criminal! cheers ck

You don't state whether you tie flies, or want to learn to tie flies . . . . .
Is the book the 1st. edition of the revised copy? Either way It's a lovely reference book with lovely hand painted illustrations George Thompson.
As for Taff Price - Legendary!!!!!

hi, taff price is a well known author and fly dresser.
who has a great sense of humour for a Welshman.
his book "rough stream trout flies" was my bible as a lad....
and if you ever get chance to see one of his slide shows, dont miss it

atb, dave

Great - i,ve managed to acquire a decent book then.
I have only really started tying flies even though i,ve been fly fishing 20+ years so have never come across famous tiers/tyers.

On the cover is 11 flies and yes the illustrations are by George Thompson.
How will i know if its the 1st edition of the revised copy.
Actual my attempts at tying result in making the fies too big - i take it perfection comes with experience, cheers ck.

good advice for tying a fly is, less is more.
not too much of most materials and not too many turns of silk, so as not to bulk up the fly.

I think that is my main problem, i,m probably bulking the flies out to much and i need to properly learn how to tie off the thread at the end - a whip finish, seems abit to involved when trying to copy off instructions but hear its relatively easy, anyway i,ll persevere with it. ck
