I use the cyclinders i cut to size for my booby eyes from plastizote foam blocks.
You can make the foam sized for flies you want to sit high in the water or just in the surface film, lots of choices really,

Just my thoughts,
Baz.

I prefer the natural materials CDC, Deer hair, etc. But the foam is unsinkable and has its uses

Last season fishing for bows i caught over 200, and hooked 75 and landed 44 in one day on foam ones.

Hello Englander I prefer the Plastazote and I like them in black as I find the fish don't spook with this colour but this is just my opinion, here are 2 examples.

cdc is great, but if you fancy something new and fun to try how about snowshoe hair? It looks great, but more importantly floats very well. Great for sunk body emergers.

Yeah, it's great stuff.

Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
