Default Connemara Black Variant

Always liked this fly and now i have some bronze mallard i decided to do some.Although the original has no body hackle i just did mine to suit me.

Hook; kamazan b175
Tail; GP crest feather
Rib; oval gold wire
Body; black seals fur
Body hackle; black cock (palmered)
Hackle; black hen
Beard; blue jay
Wing; bronze mallard

Thats a lovely looking tie there geordie. A pattern that has stood the test of time. One that has done well for me on Loch Leven. I quite like the addition of the palmered hackle.

Cheers....my thinking is with the palmered hackle and the black and brown colours it should get as much attention from the brownies as the Kate McLaren. Although one Irish and one Scottish i cant help but think two great minds thinking alike.

Very tidy there mate, nice wee twist with the palmered hackle.

Yes Graham...another wee change you have highlighted on other thread, the Connemara Bumble has the palmered body and i have combined both in this pattern.

Nice tie, the proportions are very good.

That is a great fly early season on the Corrib. I have loads of chewed ones in my box.

The c0ck eyed one is also very useful during the ducklfly

Interesting i can remember the name but cant picture the cock eyed one...i must look it up now.

Bloody horrible
I will have 1/2 a dozen
I tie a variant quite similar but more a bunch of mallard fibres for the wing
