Default Tying thread

Have decided to tie smaller flies for calm days on Melvin. 14'S AND 16'S. Also a few spiders for local rivers. UTC 70 AND Uni-thread 8/0 are too thick. PEARSALLS IS ROPE.
Could someone point me in the right direction of a thread which is fine strong and would suit the range of flies I intend to tie.
Thanks
Belfast is a cultural backwater for getting materials so a web site would help.

... Powersilk can be purchased at 10/0 and is really lovely stuff. But it suits some, others hate it.

You won't go far wrong with Sheer. It's 14/0, strong and splits nicely:

Flytying Boutique - for unusual and interesting materials

Again, another nod for Phil

Thanks for the replies. Had been thinking along those lines so will give Phil a ring in am. Mabe it's just an academic exercise but I do feel that quite often we fish with flies that are too big compared to the naturals that I see on Irish Loughs--the exceptions being the Mayfly and Murrough.
Anyways University starts next Monday so it will curtail a bit of my tying. However they pay me so I will be able to buy more threads!
Grateful to everyone.
Michael

I always use uni - thread 6/0, it ties flies from size 18 up to size 8 for me. i buy the 200 yards spools usually from glasgow angling centre.
