Nice looking beastie there G

Head colour , minor detail , wouldn't worry about that to much . As for the amount of Mallard you have used is fine IMO . The amount of winging on a Dabbler is subjective and all depends on how you want to fish the fly and when you want to fish it . All depends on the job you have in mind for it . Some days will call for skinnys and others for full cloaking .
Sometimes I tie 5 or so all with different amounts .......

Cheers

There you go , you have tied the fly for what you like and what you see your needs are
I am not a big fan of fully cloaked , why go to the trouble of doing a nice body that would appeal to the fish only to go and hide the underneath view ( fishes eye view ) by smothering it with half a duck You can still have a heavily dressed fly without doing this IMO , but then what would I know
As I said each to there own on this one and you can see just by looking at the dabblers posted on here how much they vary .

Cheers

Cracker geordie,

A will find out that it is definate fish catcher on Lough Erne & Lough Melvin

A sharpe pair of scissors is vital for tying dabblers especially when it comes to the head of the fly

You could use a waterproof marker to colour the thread and then varnish
