Default Foam DB Ephemera

It's interesting how rough foam looks close up. This fly is 15mm long (ex tails).

Nice fly Steve, only thing is it will spin like a b#gger, I did some daddy long legs with wings made of medallion sheet, makes a funny zipping noise when it flies past your head

Maybe but I don't think it will. Those wings are softer than hackle tips. Much thinner than Medallion Sheeting.

J:son&Co - Concept

Only 15 microns thick. Two sheets welded in the wing burner. Helps flotation also.

Very nice, where did you get the stuff from?

I bought it from him at BFFI and subsequently bought the smallest burner + material from him directly. Nice guy.

I'm still experimenting with it. It feels like cling film. The welding from the burning adds a little stiffness/structure. The trick is not to have too much excess that needs burning off. In the fly above you'll see that I did one wing better than the other.

The larger wings, M2 and presumably M1 (which I did not buy), have more realistic veins.

I was originally just after some wing burners having seen what Roger Salomonsson was doing with feathers. Renzetti now source their burners from J:Son. When I looked at the burners I decided to try the RWM.

(Don't worry Oakham Orange, I've not forgotten...)

I had a look at the link to Renzetti who seem to be the only dealer, not cheap from the states given the current exchange rate but they do look very good quality tools. It'll be interesting to see when someone in the Uk will stock them.

He charged me £12 for the wing burner I bought last week. Oddly I recall the cost of the ones I bought at BFFI were £10 but perhaps that's just a faulty memory. I believe he will be at the Spring Fly Fishing show

The Spring Flyfishing Show

Re Renzetti, I believe they've recently switched to this guy's products. I suspect what you see for sale is their old stuff but I could be wrong.
