im just a newbie but i think hen pheasant is some times used for trad wet wings, nymph thorax cases and i think i've seen a pattern with a caddis wing made by varnish and feather.

Yup, I'm getting to know hen ph tail better for Neil26's beginner's fly swap - it is used for the wing on Invicta.

Hi SB,
Hen pheasant tail is also used for Gordon Fraser's classic but now out-of-fashion pattern, the Fraser nymph.
On it's day, this fly is deadly.
Cheers,
Angus
