Default Bell's doctored buzzer

Sent these 2 early stage prototypes to Scratch for photo-ing. Top one is more heavily varnished the lower one only has 2 coats. Not quite what I was aiming for, but maybe I'll have a bit more of a play. Was just a follow on from scratch's original bell's buzzer and messing about with slicking down the feather 'legs' with varnish

Nothing earth shattering - 1. thought throat hackle of the original pattern went against the overall outline/feel of a buzzer ( however who am I to question Dr Bell)

2. I had seen some glue buzzer patterns with jungle cock feathers as cheeks but slicked back with varnish - just taking the glued feather factor a bit further. Not for any particular purpose, just mucking about at the vice. There is probably nowt to beat a black silk buzzer or a quill job etc etc

I think it is a good idea . If it makes any difference or not ?? who knows ?? Every fly has it's day . I think that the idea could be taken and used on other types of buzzer . Does little detail matter ??? Well we know the fish have very good eye sight so on something that is fished very slowly or static it might well make a difference .

Cheers
