The dog would have beat me to it anyway About the feathers keep the flank and the wings, and whatever other ones you fancy, and keep them in seperate bags with a blast in the microwave to kill off any bugs, mites.

I was given a Red leg one last week .I skined it then sprinkled salt on the skin and layed it on news paper to dry it out.Just wish it had been an english gray partridge .Don't forget to kill the bugs i poped it in the microwave for 20 seconds.Cheers

Isn't a rd leg the same as a French Partridge? If so the breast feathers natural and dyed are ideal for mayflies. Also I would use them for the Octopus rather than Golden Pheasant because they are softer and tie easily(relatively Speaking).

Is it necessary to microwave the feathers and for how long.
I skinned a Reeves pheasant last week but i will be struggling to get that in the microwave.
Wife will not be too chuffed about it either

How big a deal is it?

Cheers

I have read you can put them in the freezer to kill the bugs.I would think it would be better to kill them & stop them spreading to your other stuff.
