Default Help Barred Summer Woodduck

Saw a fly on UKFlydressing the Tomah Joe an American fly. I thought that if I replaced the body with black floss it would be a lovely Duck Fly. So I got some Woodduck from Cookshill. The prob is they are very delicate. I have put the wings on initially as paired slips and then secondly rolled as in Mallard. They look okish though when they are wetted look quite good. Has anyone any other suggestions about tying in Woodduck?
Thanks everyone.

You're pretty much on the money with rolling the slip sonnaghan, although I prefer folding myself. If the tips if the feather are just too fine you could try the webbier stuff nearer the base. Don't forget that you're looking for a whispy wing anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Along with Egyptian Goose they're some of the prettiest barred feathers you'll find and such a lovely shade. They're pretty pricey though so TBH I mainly use mallard these days.
