Default Benders....i need your advice

Hi all,

Now that i've got your attention!!!!

I'm having a mass tying session and started to tye my blobs. I'm using Hyabusa 761's size 6 for hooks and want to make them comp legal.

So my question is do you bend your eyes down before you tye the fly or after????

Thanks for any help.

Probably best before, but I don't think it makes any difference.

Default Before....or you'll regret it

I snap about 20% of 761's when bending the eye down.....wso always do it before or you'll end up in tears if you snap the eye off a made up fly

Aye, i see your point. That would be a bit of a gutter given that you had spent the time tying the fly!!!

Why not just use Kam B980's and you wont need to bend the eye down!
Do you not think bending the eye weakens the hook slightly??

I thought the 761's had turned down eyes.
But I must be wrong.
Wouldn't want to risk a fish of a lifetime on a hook that has been weakened,
if 20% snap when turning the eye down then the other 80% must have serious fatigue problems.
Buy the right hook to start and save some heartache.
Mike.

Just looked at Haybausa site as the eye thing was bugging me, as I thought 761 turned down eye.

I use Kamasan B980 or 982 in size 6, they're comp legal and very strong, no bending or straightening required.
