Default Fly Rattles for Pike

Does anyone know the best way to tie rattles into Pike flies?

Thanks
Simon

My preferred method is to encase in a small section of mylar tubing and tie in at the tail before you dress the fly.

Hi Simon, Here is my way of tying on a rattler, this one is covered by 2mm craft foam. but if i am tying on a open say bass or pike fly, i would use shrink tube, this way if its a pike fly the teeth of a pike will not cut it loose.

When tied in coat with super glue. the above photo is showing how i mount them for crease fly.

Here is a finished crease fly, rattle mounted inside head cone.

Hope this helps.

Dai.

Thanks Dai. I was just going to drop you a PM to ask you. I got hold of some rattles that were pointed at one end which are supposed to aid with tying in.

Thanks
Simon
