Dark Spanish Needle

Hello all what is the proper feathers for Dark Spanish Needle spiders.The patterns i have read ask for a brownish feather from a starling wing & the starling wings i have don't really have any brown feathers that i can see.So what ones do you use is it under coverts Upperwing coverts or juvenile or adult birds. Cheers
