Im liking the look of that, would do well for pollock and bass. Love the profile it gives off.
Very nice.

John.

Are you using silicone sealant/glass glue to join those fibres together?
Lovely, delicate tying!

no mate none of that
its a method called hollow tieing
heres a bigger version of it

http://www.aswf.info/images/HOLLOW_FLEYE_SBS.pdf

my pattern is just the effect when wet. its one i have being working on lots recently, this is probably my best attempt and its still abit off
the idea is hollow tieing gives you a big profile with no weight useing little materials. its big in the usa and taken of quite well with bass anglers over in ireland. A hard fly to get to grips of but worth it . the large head is created useing a build up with bt, getting more dense as you move towards the head.

hope this helps

Nice. Funny, I was just reading about this Bob Popovic method on Sunday.

Mancfly, the wet picture is misleading as the bucktail doesn't stick together in the water. You end up with a large profile with limited material = great translucency.

Popovic is the guru of saltwater bucktail.

Stevie, where did you get the eyes from? I've not seen prism eyes "on a stick" like that before.
