Scott, you know I am not too clued up on some of these more traditional patterns but these look good.

Having been on the grateful receiving end of some of your patterns, I think your tyings are very good indeed.

May we have an SBS next?

Your not far of the mark there Bruno, nice tyings mate

The only problem with dabblers is every single tyer has his own style.

There is certainly no hard and fast rule. For instance I like using left and right slips from the darkest bronze I can get my grubby hands on and dressing 3/4 ways around the shank.

Then there are guys who roll their wings. Others also like tying in a wee beard of bronze after dressing 3/4 ways around.

Experiment and find what works for you.

They are fish catches

I am no expert as I am only just starting off tying . A thing I was shown is before you tie in the wing get your Velcro to the fly and work some of the body out into the hackle and brush backwards towards the ar$e end of the fly to soften the hackle . I use my fingers to really get all them hackles going back . It really improves the look of the fly .
I also use the paired slip method that mayflyjunky said about , but then it was him that showed me how to roll a fly
That said though he showed me a few ways of doing the wing and I tried them all , I found in the end though I favour the paired slip .

Good luck and look forward to seeing the next ones
