Default Thread in front of bead

Icky, some really nice flies there (LOVE the claret Mayfly) and I have a question and a suggestion.

Q Do you catch on Blue? I have tried it to death and the only thing less successful for me than blue is the Peter Ross

Suggestion. When finishing off a fly with a bead head you sometimes get the thread showing in front of the last lot of dubbing. To avoid this dub a bit of dubbing into the whip finish loop. It only needs a tiny amount and it effectively hides those last wraps of silk.

This is not a crticism of your flies just som, ething that works for me and inho makes it look a tiny bit neater.

I hope to have my camera set up finished soon so will try and show you what I mean if its not already clear.

Keep them coming.

Cheers

Hi Chris

firstly to answer your question... i dont know.. i have never used blue materials, the sparkly dubbing that looks blue is green.... just the way it photographed

Thanks got the tip re the dubbing, that being said, i tie flies to fish with, i dare say that it is an aesthetic thing and i am sure it wont make any difference to the flies fishability.

i dont post that many flies on here, it is simply the effects of cabin fever...

regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

great flies- If I had them the pink shrimp and orange hotspot hares ear (I think this is a gem of a fly and I've fished it for years) would go on my Grayling cast right now- Far better than my efforts.

Very nice, like the goldheads & especially the sparse Skues-esque spider/nymph.

That Scud is looking like fresh food that should see action asap (weather permitting).
