The true LAW vice is probably the best you can get .... the Snowbee isn't .... simples.

if you want the rolls royce of vices the LAW itself ,which is hand made ,and a work of art even to look at then go for it , as a lot will say its just a hook holder ?? but it depends how nice a hook holder you want ,whether its the best or not im not qualified to judge you would of had to have every vice made to judge that, what you are getting is pure craftsmanship that will outlast yourself quite probably something to hand down etc, ,this comes up quite a lot have a look through the search on fly tying forum section ,hans i think has had his since they were first made by lawrence who made one for himself and one for hans ,be prepared for a miriad of answers

have a look through this ???

No problem as such, the Snowbee is an ok mid-price vice.

What you're comparing here is similar to the difference between an Aston Martin and a Ford Mondeo.

Hi,

It's only my opinion, but I don't think the LAW vice is the best. If money is no object I'd go for the Renzetti Master every time. I bought one from what was 'Piscatoria' in Bakewell years ago & I've not seen or used any other vice that comes to it for quality or design. I bought a Petitjean Master last year & it's no where near as good - thinking of getting rid of it on 'fleabay'
Remember, only my opinion . . . .

Kev

surely the Scottie vice by Weaver must be near the top of the list? Very good vice.

If you want a review of this vice visit GWFFA web site then Tackle review.

Am on the waiting list for a LAW vice, looking forwards to mine.

I think the choice of a vice is a very personal thing and if you want to buy a good one it's a considerable investment.

A couple of months ago I made the decision to 'upgrade' from my Renzetti Traveller to a C&F Ultimate Reference. (I was sorely tempted by the LAW because it is an exquisite piece of hand-made engineering but ... I'm an impatient little oik and I was in need of retail therapy!) The thing is, your tying reflects the vice you use and vice versa and it's only now, after a couple of months that I'm beginning to feel 'comfortable' again ... like I did with the Renzetti.
