Default Night Fly Patterns

Hello all i have been busy tying lots of sparse spiders for fishing the Clyde this coming season. I also want to try a bit of night fishing & have read suggested flies like Magpie Tail / Stank hen / Duck Tip / Sedge / Palmer / Woodcock & Hare Lug. I can work out the patterns for the Magpie Tail ,Duck Tip, & Woodcock but not sure about the others. Can some one suggest a few flies that will work with the pattens as i have searched the net but can't see a lot about Clyde night flies. Cheers

Cheers Old Jock i have already seen that site problem is it doesn't mention the materials used for the night flies .I have a good idea what most materials used are by the picture. But still being a novice a pattern would be handy to know .I have found lots of information about spider pattern & substitute materials. But i can't seem to find much information about night flies. Cheers

Well all you have to do is ask.

Click the image to open in full size.

Stank Hen:

Thread: orange
Tag: gold flat tinsel,three turns
Body: bronze peacock herl
Rib: fine gold wire
Wing: waterhen tied flat, woodcock as alternative
Hackle: dark ginger, three turns.

Magpie Tail:

Body: black thread ribbed with silver wire
Wing: green of the magpie tail tied flat
Hackle: black henny cock, three turns

Duck Tip:

Tag: silver flat tinsel, three turns
Body: black thread
Wing: mallard blue with white tip showing
Hackle: black cock fairly long, three turns.

Hooks: size 10 or 12. All tail flies, all good night flies for the Clyde
Thread was original Pearsall's Gossamer & Naples but I use Benecchi 12/0 now
as I do for most of my small flies. A good easily to work with thread.
I get bye as dropper flies with a small Invicta, Wickham & Cinnamon & Gold
The Sedge you mention is probably this one.

Thread: dark olive
Body: dull yellow seals fur
Rib: fine gold wire
Wing: hen Pheasant tail feather, tied pent
Hackle: dark ginger cock
Altenatively a body can be formed with brown cock pheasant centre tail fibres ribbed with fine gold wire

There is a Duck Tip at bottom second from left. Couple of Magpie tails in there as well somewhere.
