Default Whip Finish

Hi, this has probs already been posted by someone else, but is there a step by step as to how to do a whip finish, i'm completely new to fly tying but i do like it, i'm finding all ok except the whip which i'm finding a nightmare


Any help welcome

Hi dave, been in the same boat mate. Thread pinging off , convinced I've got a left handed whip finisher all that. My stuff for fly tying arrived yesterday and I went through all the above. Go to you tube on search type in call of the chalk, there is an excellant video on whip finishing. I think i've Sussed it, mind you I've had a gin or two.

Whip finishing by hand gives much more control, especially if you locate the knot with a dubbing needle instead of scissors.

i too was worried about the whip finish when i started tying. but took it slowly to begin with and found after 20 flies it had already become 2nd nature to me.
tried a few with fingers and nope not for me much prefer using a whip finish tool.
