Hi there,
Anyone know of any fly tying classes/tuition (for beginner to fly tying) available in the Yorkshire area?

Evening classes, day courses, one2one all considered.

Cheers

Hi stuart, I take it you live in bingley? Im just down the road in shipley, and fish on the aire in bingley a lot, I'd be willing to show you how to tie a few flies, these days I've got a bit of a limited kit- what sort of flies are you wanting to learn to tie?

Not sure about courses, but maybe you could sort something out with either phil holding at spidersplus or lathkills.

cheers, J

Default Fly Tying

Hi Bingley

I'm new to fly tying and i too struggled initially to find anyone to teach me. Finally I found the British Fly Fedration who put me in contact with their Durham branch, Durham Fly Fishers. So i would recommend you contact the BFF.

There are shows for fly tying one in november at Trentham gardens, stoke. There is a show coming up in the north east in February at the Nissen Factory social club, I'm sure the BFF will be there, its also a great place to buy equipment and meet like minded individuals. I think there is a show in Newark too. May also sees the tweed show which has a fly tiers row.

I've been very lucky to meet a gentleman called Paul little who i'm sure would give you some help and might even know where you can find a club locally. His email can be found at Welcome to the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors.

I hope this message has been of assistance. I tie with durahm fly fishers and a group of ladies, we're progressing onto salmon flies this year.

Good luck

Regards

Pink Lady

You are correct.

Does anyone do 1-on-1 fly tying tuition via webcam?
I should think that would be an excellent way of teaching all the basics pretty quickly & would eliminate a lot of problems regarding meeting up & freeing-up spare time.
