Default re- hen capes thread- questions

i have just read the 'hen capes' thread that has now been closed just a few questions spring to mind.

the 'evidence' that was posted was the online receipt for payment of stamps not a proof of posting nor by the price was any insurance taken. now what would happen if that parcel was lost by the courier? would the seller say "tough, i posted it - its the royal mails fault" or would they honour there customer and send again??

BTW this is not a get at 'gerry' thread - i have bought from him before and the delay in receipt was down to the Royal mail. but what if it had been lost.

i would be interested to hear what the Forum sellers would do and what would be reasonable to expect from the retailers?

perhaps there is a policy to which forum trade members adhere??

Neil
From now on all my mail goes out either recorded or special delivery depending on the order value, I agree that a cert of postage is not trackable but it does show posting details, date sent etc and is covered up to the value of £39. I am back to taking the mail personally to the PO and things seem to be running smoother again. In the event of non delivery I offer a full refund or replacement packet with identical or as close to as possible product which would never be less than the price of the original product. RM say to allow 15 days after posting before they will classify an item as lost. From this week when a purchase is now made a tracking number will be provided within 24 hours so both myself and the customer can keep an eye on the parcels progress.
I also in my terms and conditions provide details of the distance selling regulations and will post a link to these on the bottom of every selling thread I create that way the purchaser will know they have the same rights as they would making any other online purchase. I know RM offer a refund on the cost of the missing item but sometimes that items is a one off cape or has been especially dyed which is when a replacement can be hard to offer or a delay will be incurred in order to supply a replacement.
Anyway nuff said.
Regards
Gerry

By law, they MUST fully comply with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 as a minimum. The details can be viewed via the following link:

I used to sell on EBAY and in my opinion the only way to do it is to take the stuff to the post office personally and ALWAYS get a receipt of postage, and hand it over to the guy at the desk.

It was extremely rare that I had a problem (posting all around the world) but when I did it was easy to sort.

If the seller is a trader then the Distance Selling Regulations will apply. These regulations make it clear that goods are the sellers responsibility until they are accepted by the buyer. Must add, that I wouldn't like to be a trader, as the regs seem heavily biassed in the customers favour

having never dealt with artifly i cannot comment on service but this seems to be a witch hunt rather than a general discussion about the RM delivery times and the consumer act. up until a couple of weeks ago i had never heard a bad word about this company and no everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon. but as always, you speak as you find. jon mcmillan.
