Question How to use Blue Jay

Can someone please help me with how to use Jay on Bumbles . Do you strip the fibers* (* ers ?? res ?? ) and tie them in or what ???
I have had a go a dabblers now ( pics on the way soon ) so thought I had better try some Bumbles next . I only have a few feathers so need to get it right straight off

Cheers .

There are two ways that I use, the first is as you say to strip the fibres and tie in about 3 small bunch's as you would bronze mallard on a dabbler, or you can tie in in face down, sticking out the front of the hook in a few bunches as the first element you tie to the hook, then fold it back once you have completed the fly. I illustrated this on here somewhere but cannot seem to find it. Will have another look....

Danny
I strip the non blue side of the feather then get a scalpel and splice the thicker end of the stalk in half then pull the outer half away in the direction of the tip. I then tie the feather in by the tip and wind as normal hackle.

Tie it in by the tip. You will then get 2 winds around the hook. Stop when you see the white stalk coming through. That's all that is required.
