Default Golden Pheasant

Hi
Hope someone can help me. I have been given a Golden Pheasant Skin. There is no head or neck[from which if i understand correctly, is where you get tippits and topping creast from] and there are no tail feathers. What i have is a skin containing golden, darkish red and green feathers. Are these feathers used for anything in particuler?. I have also been given a skin with all the feathers dyed blood red.
Thanks Ray

The fly that springs to mind is the Octopus. Use the red body feathers for the standard tying and the yellow rump feathers for the Melvin variant.

Red rump feathers can be used in Salmon shrimp patterns eg Curry's Red Shrimp. The red or yellow rump feathers are used in the Melvin Octopus. THE DARK BROWN wing feathers I use for sedges eg the Murrough.
I was going to post an experience I am suffering presently. I bought a complete head (Turrall) The crest featers are all stiff and straight. The lustre has gone. At the same time I bought seals fur also Turrall. Awful stuff-nothing like Frankie Mc Phillip's. I have noted that Turrall materials are poor and would like to hear others experiences.
Happy Christmas everyone

No worries Ray

Just did a couple examples on wet fly hooks as to what the flies look like, but im sure when your tying for while you will get the hang of it.
