Very nice Geordie
The 6th one down is not far away from being a Dunkeld your one just has a teal wing instead.

Lol....read an article somewhere trimming the Gp crest feather lets light into the barbs thus adding more flash in the tail, they were saying a bit like polar bears hair in the article so i trimmed mine

Calm down scratch aout trimming Topping, a friend of mine caught his best brownie up untill August on a fly he had tied himself with the topping upside down and had had the end of it roughly broke off using his scissors.

What? Like on the end of the fibre on one of those tacky 70's fibre optic ornaments? That's the only way I can see any 'benefit' occuring there. Not convinced though. Plus, with the GP topping, being semi-translucent, and posessing a certain amount of natural flash anyway, do you think such a slight (dubious) technical 'enhancement' is really worth such an aesthetic infringement? Sorry mate

Which joker recommended that you trim the GP anyway Should be made to walk the plank!

I agree , even if the fish liked it I could not tie a fly on that had been violated like that It looks so nice with the natural curve and point .

Stick to the natural way of things then, change not needed on the natural ability off the GP crest feathers

Hey Geordie, if you like it mate stick with it. Just a personal thing I guess. Let me know if your catch rate goes through the roof..... I'll tie a few up for comps If I can bring myself to use a fookin blob in a comp I'm sure as hell I could trim a bit of GP topping.... if it had a distinct benefit. For pleasure angling though, I'd rather eat glass than trim my GP
