Default Cdc & Deer Hair

Decided that next season i am determined to use more cdc,i thought i would have a go at the cdc and elk as i will need a searching pattern but i used comparadun deer hair,
Any critique welcome as i need to know what i am doing is right,i find it hard work to judge proprtions without having a fly in front of me to copy,

Hi Silversedge, the body is one cdc feather wrapped up to the eye stroking the feathers back as you go,

Paul the fish will quiver with fear when they here your name now.
That’s just the business and one of the most successful patterns I know.
You have cracked it mate.

Hans will be very proud of you. But beware, as I have found out, this fly can turn you into a one fly fisherman. As has been said before, a cdc & elk will work wet , damp or dry. IMHO it is one of the very best searching patterns you can put on the water.
Rod.

Whats the deeer hair you have used for the wing as it looks to be good for winging patterns as I have been looking for a deer hair to do this.
( Every bit of deer hair I have bought so far has turned into a ball with a slight touch of thread on it.)

A real powerhouse of a pattern - and you've done it justice

Hans uses a TMC 102 Y, if it’s good enough for him.......

I tie them in 14, 16 and 18s.
Some folk mess about with different coloured CDC, I stick to just regular stuff albeit I have dabbled with bright yellow for the YMD hatch with moderate success. Bigbadtrout fished with olive ones early last year through the LDO hatch and did well.
