Smile Micro bunny's ?

Hi Guys

Ive tied pike bunny bugs huge double tailed thing's in 6/0 hooks ! And more recently salt water Flats bunny's tied on size 1/0, these smaller bunny's got me thinking how small can you tie bunny's ??

Bunnys have an amazing amout of movement i love them

Here my prototype "micro bunny" well its on a Kamasan size 6 lure hook i reckon rainbows or even big browns would love it............? To be honest im not sure you can tied them much smaller due in part to the width of the zonker strip, but mostly due to the length of the rabbit fur. I thought about splitting the zonker strip however it doesnt address the fur length issue.

Possibly another typeof animal pelt would be better sutied to smaller bunny's ?

Im going to tie up some bunnys on Knapek size 4 lure hooks to play with in Lochs next season hoping it may attrack some bigger fish ??

Anyone here fish bunnys for trout species ??

Out of intest i tied this and my flats bunnys using the "tail loop" for the first time, and boy does it work ! holding the tail up and preventing the zonker strip fouling around the hook bend

Here's a Flats bunny tied on a size 1/0 that shows the tail loop effect much more clearly.

Glasgow Angling sell mink zonkers that are really thin, I reckon you could tie down to size 8's and 10's. Thats got me thinking!!

Hi SC - Been tying with MM for a couple of years now - great results for trout - tied on size 8 LS for the fry bashers - or size 10 B175s.
For the 175s use the zonkers with the shortest fibre length, also use a little lead foil as an underbody - bulk it near the head to cause a diving action.

Hi Englander,

That first one you're holding resembles what I call my Dead Bunny. Essentially a strip of black rabbit fur and just a couple of turns of lead wire plus some silver thread around the shank to get it down. Works a treat on big browns and rainbows when it's cold and fished slow with a lot of twitches or in a current. Caught a 52 cm brown on one on the 6th of December as well as a nice rainbow. When weather turns cold or the fry are out these tend to work very well. If you're also fishing a water with small eels, leeches or lampry then they have produced a few good surprises for me. In a still water I'll use a size six and in streams and rivers where I'm after wild fish I've gone down to a size ten.

Take care

Terry
