Default Rotary Vice

Hi,

I am after a mid-priced rotary vice that will allow me to tie anything from small midges up-to pike flies. It also must be of the pedestal type.

I had a look at the Renzetti Presentation 2000. Has anybody used this vice and can they recommend it?

Any other recommendations welcome.

Thanks
Simon

I recently bought an Anvil Apex from Grommit on these forums. I am a beginner to tying, but I think this vice will last me for a good many years.
Try a search on the forums, there are loads of threads re: vices.
Hope this helps.
Gary

The Anvil Apex isn't a true rotary vice, although the new Anvil Atlas vice is. Don't know what your price limit is as that costs £150, but I bet someone could do you a deal on it.

FWIW, I use a Marryat MP vice and get on famously with it.

Until recently I used a Renzetti Traveller and it was excellent and it was a tough call when I 'upgraded' to go for something other than Renzetti.

Not sure but the Griffin Montana Mongoose looks to be a sturdy vice and has a good hook range. I hope to get one next Xmas, 2010, as I have already sorted out me Xmas pressies.

It will last and last and last...

Foxons (Reneé) use them for their commercially dressed flies - as anyone invited to the inner sanctum can witness.

I had a second hand Atlas for £50 recently. I slightly prefer the Apex, as illustrated above, it's a great workhorse with normal hook sizes.

How does the Apex Anvil compare to the HMH Standard.
Im a few weeks away from buying a new vice and there seems a big price difference.

Look up the dan vice on ebay. A mate of mine bought one and he says he's happy with it. True rotary and cheap.
