Default Cdc

I removed CDC feathers today from a couple of Mallards.
How do Veniards etc get the different coloured feathers, pink CDC etc?
They obviously dye them but what happens to the water proof properties of the feather when dyed?

Or do i need to hunt for pink ducks?

Cheers

Munro

Not alot. The floatability of CDC is largely due to the structure of the feather.

But surely there are a lot more feathers like that out there.
I plucked a Jay the other day and the feathers on that are a lot like CDC.
I can see the logic in removing ducks CDC feathers as the oil glan on the duck is clearly visible.

I will let you know if i shoot any pink ducks!

Scott, you would be doing yourself out of business mate.
By the way that ice off stuff worked well.
