Stick a needle in your vice and whip your thread on it, take a large bunch of Marabou and tie this in tight on the needle, whip finish and trim away your thread. then just pull up the bunch of marabou and seperate it into roughly three sections then what I do is take three hackle pliers, one for each section, clip the end of the first marabou section into one of the hackle pliers then do the same for the other two, then plait as normal, when you get down to the ends of the marabou close to the tip of your pliers form half a granny not with your bobbin thread BUT before you pull it completely tight add a drop of superglue to the thread then pull it tight and complete the granny!
finally loop your bobbin over the point where your granny knot was tied in, 4-5 turns, then you can either remove or leave in place the hackle pliers and finish off with either a whip finish or a couple of half hitches, I leave the pliers in place then half hitch over them, then add a touch of glue to the final tie in point. seems to work well enough doing it this way. finally just remove the hackle pliers and grip the marabou on the needle tightly and slide it off, this will give you your body which the "rough" end will be cut away when you tie in the body.
I bet that was as clear as mud!
