Nice patten Dave, will have a go at a few of them later. Had an attempt at the CDC pattens from the river flybox yesterday, good sbs to follow along with. Looking forward to trying them.

Hi Dave, nice pattern, can i ask what is the reason that you use flat led for all your weighted patterns,is it that you find it heavier than the led on a roll or is it a case of thats what you have always used,
Brilliant website by the way,

Paul

Paul,

I started using it with aim to forming a thinner, slimmer profile. Round lead works fine - I guess now I use what works for me. I find the flat less slippy and nicer to wind the thread over. In terms of being heavier - well possibly, but the difference between them will be negligible.

Add in the mass added when the natural materials become wet, you have a suitably weighted fly. I am very happy with adding more than one layer on too - this helps develop the shrimpy profile too.

Cheers,
