Default Is it Right to Use Animals for Their Fur?

You may or may not know that I got a fancy reel the other day, and as I sometimes do with reels, I decided to put a line on it (but that's another thread).

Anyway, the end result after several attempts is that I have lots of cat fur and was thinking this could be used to tie flies. The colour ranges from the palest milk chocolate to 80% cocoa in the manner of a pedigree Burmese.

Has anyone used cat fur for tying? And what does it look like when wet? Should I hold the cat by the tail and dangle it in a bathtub full of water to see? If I skinned the cat, could I get it a cheap fleece in return, to be going on with over the winter? And what fur is best where?

Please note, no animals were harmed in the making of this thread.
