Default Help - trying to find a shrimp pattern

Hi All

Trying to find a pattern for a pink shrimp or just a general shrimp pattern as I am trying my hand at Grayling fishing for the first time on Sunday

Perhaps it is just me but I couldnt find one on here

Many thanks for any help rendered

The pink charm is a fantastic bug, in deep or slightly coloured water I think it is one of the best. However in shallow water, very clear water or on a beat were the fish have been hammered with pink patterns, I find a slightly less lairy pattern works a lot better.
I use a version which I call the "Dirty Pink Shrimp", the dressing goes as follows :

Hook: TMC 2499 SPBL Sizes 14-18
Thread : Shell Pink UTC
Underbody: Fine Lead Wire
Body: Shrimp Pink Sow Scud Dubbing
Shellback : Pink Thinskin
Rib: Pink Wire
Head: Shell Pink thread varnished and then two black paint dots added as eyes.Once the eyes have dried give the head another coat of varnish to stop them comming off.

If the Sow Scud Dubbing is very pink (teh mix tends to vary slightly), I dull it down with either some hare's ear or some grey syenthetic dubbing.

For me this is my best grayling pattern by far, on the southern chalkstreams the smaller size 16's and 18's are devilishly effective.... Give it a go and let me know how you get on.

I am at work otherwise I would post a picture for you....

Andy, I may have to have a peek at these beauties of yours though, as a beginner tyer, I do need a few images in an SBS to guide me along.

I will have a seat in the office tomorrow night (with a dark rum to aid my creativity) and tie up a few.

Grommit posted me a few goodies to play with so see you Sunday
