just messing about really!!!!!! ,Ive really begun to enjoy the tying again,, as Ive gone over to tying reservoir flies more than river flies ,but the river section will have to start tonight also ,,as Ive quite a few to get done including a number for other guys i know ,one or two from my local river (THE KELVIN) so enjoy seeing them use the flies and even better if they are catching using them which this year was a first for me ,,,what happened was ,a guy i know was fishing after me on a run on the river and we took alternating turn to go through this run using wets ,and every time after he had gone through and blanked i would go through and take at least one fish if not two.

this was becoming an issue to him and he asked if i had super glue on the hooks ,which of course i replied "no" and explained i was using much smaller sizes than him and also was taking on what was going on under the water and also on top of it regarding flee life .
i then proceeded to give him around half a dozen flies which ranged from 14-18 and also made a new cast up for him using two flies ,one being a nymph hares ear size 16 and the other was a spider size 14 which was just a Stewart spider and straight away his first run through he had 2 small trout ,,,his face said all the thanks he was ever going to say using his mouth and my day was made just by giving something i had tied to a fellow fly fisherman in which he used to make his day a little brighter ,,,,,,great stuff and no wonder its so addictive .

Here I go again. Not strictly speaking 'Half-Hogs'. H-H's don't have muddler heads, and are tied on straight-shank hooks, but I'm sure they'll do alright as they have buzzer profiles.

I think it's the late 60's/early 70's style picture framing that's scarring everyone away mate

their was me thinking i was adding a nice wee touch ,but i get your point and will rid future tyings of such harsh framing ,then i can hope for the constructive criticism that i always look for ,as its what has brought my tying on from the early day .....cheers scratch.

Memorable time that one, makes it all worth while most probably made that guy's day.
As for the flies i want a row or two of them in my fly box. Nice one.

What sizes for stillwater do you recommend?
