Ali, as the name suggests, "deer belly hair" comes from the belly of the roe deer and is as pure a white as you could get making it ideal for dying bright colours. "Natural Roe" applies to the fawn coloured hair on the rest of the body. Deer belly is also a bit longer with finer tips and does take a bit of getting used to especially when creating muddler heads.

Gerry, how do you find the effectiveness of hogs on the cruved hook as opposed to traditional straight hook? Only ever used them on a straight hook.

Scott
I only fish these in a gentle ripple on the top dropper with a couple of snatchers behind. Use a slow retrieve and vary it, I usually start with a figure of 8 then do a couple of quick jerks then slight pause and repeat. I find varying like this creates more of a response from the trout as opposed to a continuous retrieve.

Hoging the tying section again Gerry?

Wicked ties mate... my personal fave is the 'Hogordie' What's the colour sequence of deer hair there Gerry? Three colours or just white and nat?

I have picked 3 different shades from a complete roe skin tying in the darkest from the ridge of the back in at the rear and ligher as I come forward, I would imagine it would work just as well with the same shade with white at the head.
