My first ever attempts at tying. Shoot me down, burst my bubble, see if you can make me cry

Any comments welcome.

NO EXPERT on blobs but i would say your not putting enough material in and not stroking it back on every wrap ,and tails a bit shorter ???

For first attempts they are very good. They will all catch on their day. They might be frowned upon however if you were to use them on the Test or Itchen.

Fair play Whitgoatie, well done with those .The top lures are definitely well up to catching,I cannot pass comment on the blobs as I have only seen pics of them.

Tying them in the first place

Fine efforts Goatie, keep 'em coming. With Craigie's 'tutorials' and all round intellect, you'll soon be up to his standard.

My blobs dont look very 'meaty'. Having seen Alimars two tone blobs, I'm guessing the way to give mine more bulk, would be to twist 2 strands of the fritz together and then wind it onto the hook. Will have a try later.

I find the best way to bulk them up is to make sure you pull all the fibres from the previous twist back (licking your fingers helps) before doing the next one. Make sure the twists are as close together as you can get and repeat all the way down to the head. This should make them a bit denser.

Never tried twisting two strands together but will give it a go (possibly with two different colours hmmmm....) Will see how it turns out, have a feeling the fritz will all become trapped within the coils though.
