Default Starting over

I'm getting back into the fly tying side of our sport after a good few years away from it. With my son and a couple of his mates now fishing, it's costing me a fortune keeping them in flies

When it comes to getting materials, I need to just about start from scratch again, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend where is the best place to order the basics from. I'm looking for hooks, thread, fritz, chenille, marabou, beads etc so it's really the full shooting match and as you can tell, it's mainly lures I'll be tying initially.

Any advice gratefully received.

John

Obviously that's not the sole reason squeeks or I wouldn't bother. Thought if I got back into it and had the initial outlay, then if my lad takes an interest, I'll have a personal fly tyer for my later years.

To be honest, the last few times I've been fishing, I've gone into my flybox looking for favourite patterns that I tied years ago, but I've subsequently managed to lose or give away.

good thinking! I'm preparing my two by teaching them to push me in a wheelchair, change my bag, and offer up kidneys - just in case

Thanks Steve - I've heard good things about this lot, but was hoping I could maybe give the business to one of the sellers on the forum.

Its not cheap to tie your own flies but it is a skill and a very rewarding and satisfying way to spend an evening and if your son is interested all the more benefit and reason.

Used to tie all my own flies Kevin but haven't managed for a few years now as most of my spare time was taken up with running after the kids. I must admit tho that more recently, it's been that buying all my flies has become a hard habit to break. Finally managed it tho and looking forward to a few evenings back at the bench.
