Graham,

They are indeed bruits! Very, very, very strong and plenty of weight - ideal for tying heavy bugs. They are excellent at hooking up too: razor sharp with an off-set point. Just watch you fingers whilst tying

Cheers,

Another great fly

Would that be fished in the same way as a nymph on the river???
Cast up and watched down for takes???

Really intend on taking on the rivers next year.

As you prefer. It is heavy, but small enough to be cast conventionally and fished upstream - just as you would a PTN or similar. I also like fishing these Czech style on a shorter line.

If the water clarity allows, you can see the fish take the fly - or, as you suggest, a movement on the leader indicates a take. I tend not to fish these shrimps New Zealand style - though I am sure it would work.

Do it! If you can, go with someone who has fished rivers before and knows what they are doing. Your learning curve will be very steep - but fast!

Cheers,

Thanks for that Dave

I'm afraid I'm on my todd as the rivers are rarely fished around me, but as far as the learning curve goes, with guys like yourself on the forum it shouldn't be too steep

I've had great advice here on the rivers but I started too late in the season last year.

Thanks
